SHE SAYS SHE SAW SAME AS SHE SAW

My sister shot one of these little fellas (a photo, that is) and brought a print to Grandma and me the other night to identify it. We came to the conclusion it is a fox sparrow on his way north to nesting territory. Today I spotted this one at the base of our bird feeders scratching and picking up seeds to eat as is their nature.
It was such a gorgeous day that I did my walking/running on the Douglas Trail - summer-dry today, probably skiable on Monday. Gazing up at the poplars which are remeniscent of birches, I thought of Tony's posted poem. Alone there with those trees stretching into the blue sky, I felt particularly insignificant in the scheme of things. I must have been energized though for on my return I dug out the rake and got a start at spiffing up the yard. Alan has done a lot of spring pruning already and he came by with the wagon to help haul away the piles I made today. Then a little reward for both of us - supper at Cathy's in PI. Work the next 2 days- not a bad thought in itself but with "weather" moving in tomorrow night, it might not be so fun.

What?! A blog post?!

Your bird pictures must not have been shot through the window. Very nice!
