Simon earns his freedom

Simon's been out and about with me a lot lately while I work in the flower beds around the house. He loves to hide in the perennials and race around chasing bees and stirring up the dirt. He ventures up and down the rocks of the water way, climbs nearby trees and explores beneath the deck. He doesn't wander too far and will come if we call him (most of the time) If he doesn't choose to appear, shaking his food can will bring him running. I've been putting him in his enclosure when I go inside .......until today. I decided he was ready to stay out on his own while I was inside cleaning. It was hot and he apparently hung out somewhere bearable. I went out occasionally and when he'd hear the door open he came up on the deck. At his suppertime he came in to eat. When he finished he came over, rubbed against my legs a little and while I stood there, he just lay down between my feet and put his head down. I moved away and he just stayed there in the middle of the kitchen floor, sleeping. Alan was on the beanbag chair watching TV so he called Simon over. Once he got there, he immediately settled in for some more snoozing. I guess that independence must have been pretty stressful.

Then Alan had some fun with a sleeping kitty. He calls this the Yoda pose. I think  the poor little guy was so tired he couldn't even hold his ears up!
