My Play Days

The camper cabin.

Brain took this rare picture of the 2 of us at Minneopa State Park during a recent visit and overnight stay at a camper cabin in the park. Brian and Kate came to our campsite and spent the evening around the fire and watched the moon rise. There was a train track down the bank from the cabin so we heard a couple trains pass. The fall insects were very noisy but it was peaceful by the fire in the otherwise quiet night. I heard the distant sound of train whistles a couple times before I went in for the night. The next day, Brian, Laur, Jill and I went golfing. We met Kate afterward to eat at Patrick's.

The end of September we went with friends, Dave and Donnis, to Cable, WI. Susan and Brad were married on Maui 8-8-08 and hosted their reception near the lake home they are building. It is nearly complete, replacing an old home on the site. We took a couple extra days to enjoy some fall colors and good times at a home we rented neareby. The upper unit was ours with a nice view of Lake Namakagon.

The colors were gorgeous when we took an evening walk on the road that winds past the lake.

I just got back from a few days with Laur and Jill at Jill's sister's cabin north of Little Falls on Fishtrap Lake. Sunday started out with a nice sunrise over the lake but it soon turned cloudy with rain later in the day. We spent part of the day at Crow Wing State Park near Brainerd and shopped in Nisswa. The weather was dry but mostly cloudy Monday for 29 holes of golf (yes, 29. We repeated the last 2 holes to better our scores!) We saw only 2 other golfers. Too bad people missed out on the mild temps and beautiful colors. The rest of the time til Wednesday we watched a couple movies, ate out at some interesting places, played some scrabble, took a couple walks and relaxed. And I never had to drive a single mile. Jill drove and Laur navigated so I got to just enjoy the ride. I made good progress on a knitting project, too!
