Redwing field trip - Bald Eagles

Laur, Jill and I went off in search of eagles along the Mississippi River this afternoon. There were volunteers on hand at a park near Redwing who got us started. We saw the most right in that area where there was some open water. They are very cooperative for perching photos. They sit for long periods of time usually focused on the river. We were told they eat a tasty meal from the river, then mostly just sit until it's time to eat again. Look at this wing span!

One landed in a tree just above us. This was just after landing. Then it settled so it could look out over the water. Note the white tail. Some of it is in the sunshine but most of it is in the shadow of it's folded wings.

There were 3 in the air raising some kind of ruckus. These 2 ended up in my view finder. The one on the bottom doesn't seem to be very happy!

What magnificent birds!!

Mom said she thought that "ruckus" is a mating thing but it doesn't look very romantic to me! Great picture!

What do you mean..."ended up in your viewfinder"? Didn't you plan that shot?! :)

I was just aiming at the comotion and I was pleasantly surprised to see what I captured. Mmmm.... no that wasn't it at all. I was focusing right on those two and at just the right moment, I clicked the shutter and got the exact shot I wanted. I also own some oceanfront property in Arizona.
